Getting out on the water in a boat is an amazing experience in itself, but there are all kinds of activities besides just riding it it that you can do while you are out there. Our Tritoon and Ski Boat rentals at the Lake of the Ozarks offer you an opportunity to try these activities yourself. Some are relaxing, a few are adventurous, but they are all great ways to have a good time while on the water.
Fishing
There are quiet coves around the Lake of the Ozarks that offer some pretty impressive fishing spots. You will have the chance to catch a large variety of fish in these waters. Large mouth bass, crappie, catfish, white bass, walleye, and sunfish can all be found in our lake.
Swimming/Floating
Quiet coves are also a perfect place to drop anchor and jump into the water for a while. A simple floatie to sit on keeps your head above water and gives you the chance to visit with your boating companions. You can find all kinds of large floating contraptions at many stores around the area that can hold multiple people at a time. Often boaters will tie boats up together and turn it into quite a water party.
Tubing
This is the super-fun act of being pulled behind a boat while sitting on top of a giant inner tube. Depending on the speed of the boat, this can be a little bit of fun or a crazy ride. This is a great thing for all ages to give a try.
Skiing
Water skiing is a difficult sport to master, but once you do, it is a great way to spend your afternoon on the lake.
Wakeboarding
This is kind of a combination between skiiing, surfing, and snowboarding. Professional wakeboarders can perform flips and tricks that are pretty exciting to watch. Once you master skiing, this might be a sport that you will want to try out.
Exploring
The Lake of the Ozarks is set up in a very interesting way. Places that take you a few minutes to drive to can take you an hour to boat to, and vice versa. Taking out one of our boat rentals gives you a wonderful chance to venture to areas that you have not had the time to travel to yet. There are numerous waterfront bars and restaurants all up and down the more than 1,150 miles of shoreline.
Enjoy the experience
There is absolutely nothing wrong with simply getting in the boat and cruising. No need for sports or pre-planned stops, just get out on the water and drive. The beauty of the Lake of the Ozarks, the sun on your face, and the wind in your hair can make for one of the very best days ever.
There are plenty of enjoyable things for you to do when you take a boat out on the water. So many, in fact that you will most likely need to make reservations for our Lake of the Ozarks boat rentals quite a few times over the Summer. If this is the case, you might be interested in our Boat Rental Memberships. We have lots of plans to fit your boating needs: Weekday plan, 7-day plan, or Family or Shared Plan. Let us get you out there, having some amazing days on the water.
It's a holiday weekend at the Lake (YAY!) This is an exciting place to live most of the time, especially in the Summer, but holidays seem to amp everything up an extra level. We expect our Lake of the Ozarks boat rentals to be very popular over the holiday. The lake is expected to be much more full of traffic than other weekends, and it is very important to take precautions to keep yourself and your passengers safe when you are out there on a boat or jet ski.
Learn the rules of the water
Driving a boat is not like driving a car. There are no streets to follow or signals to direct traffic, so you need to keep a close eye on what everyone around you is doing. There is an excellent video on Boat-ed.com showing key things that you should know. You can also get your boater certification through their website, plus more videos on important boating subjects.
Wear a life jacket
It's the law that you have enough life jackets for every person on board. Statistics note that 9 out of 10 drownings could have been prevented with a life jacket. Even if you are a good swimmer, many scenarios are possible where you may not be able to help yourself in the event of a crash of accidental fall overboard. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
Maintain a safe speed and distance from other boats
Boats do not have breaks. If you are cruising too close to other boats, you may not be able to stop or turn quickly enough to avoid a collision. The same goes for speed. Driving too fast makes it very difficult to slow down quickly enough if you are in the same path as another boater.
Don't drink and boat
Alcohol combined with boating is extremely dangerous. It is illegal for the driver of the boat to drink at all. Passengers may, but drinking too much can make the boat a dangerous place. You may not be thinking clearly, causing you to forget safety rules. It is can be very easy for a drunken passenger to fall overboard.
Know the weather forecast
Even if it's gorgeous when you head away from the dock, bad weather can sneak up on you if you aren't prepared. Check the weather forecast before starting out for the day to be aware of what is expected. You might also want to keep an occasional eye on it while you are out in case of changes.
Create a float plan
A float plan lets someone that is not on the boat with you know what to do if you do not return or check-in when expected. When renting a boat, you have the staff at BomBay Rental Company aware of when you should be returning, but if you go out on your own, it is wise to take care of this simple detail. You can download a form to fill out at FloatPlanCentral.org.
Use common sense
Hopefully this is a normal thing for you in everyday life. If it seems dangerous, don't do it. If you are unsure of anything, ask for help. The staff at BomBay Boat Rental will have answers to all of your questions, or find out the answer if we are not sure. Your safety is very important to us, and we will do everything in our power to ensure it.

If you've got an active Dad, take out a tube or some water skis and see who can go the longest without falling off. A day on a boat together is sure to make lots of happy memories for the whole family.
2. Tranquility
The view from the middle of the Lake of the Ozarks is very likely one of the most relaxing and gorgeous sights that you will ever come across. BomBay Boat Rental Company has the best boat rentals at the Lake of the Ozarks for you to take out on the water, but there are a lot of essentials that you should bring with you. These items will help you to have a much more enjoyable day out on the lake. Grab a giant beach bag and get ready to fill it up.
1. Sunscreen You will be directly in the sun while you are on the boat, and probably for an extended period of time. Especially if you will be stopping in a cove to swim. You should reapply sunscreen every couple of hours and after swimming to maintain coverage. Your day on the lake may not be a good memory if you are burned for days afterward.
2. Sunglasses The glare off of the water can be blinding. The safest sunglasses for your eyes should protect you from both UVA and UVB light. 3. Hats It's pretty hard to put suntan lotion on your head if you have hair, and ears are often forgotten about when sunscreen is applied. Having a hat handy is wonderful when you aren't ready to get off of the water but your face and head have had enough heat. 4. Towels It's best to bring along one for each person plus a few extras. There is a good chance that a few will get too soaked to dry anything, and you may want to use some to clean up spills and splashes rather than just to dry off. 5. Drinks & Snacks If you bring along a few non-perishable snacks and something to drink, you can spend more time on the water without having to look for a place to stop and eat. The sun will make you thirstier than normal, and swimming works up quite an appetite. Pack a few koozies to keep the beverage that you are drinking cold longer. Also, a roll of paper towels is great to have around just in case. 6. Water This gets it's own number separate from snacks and drinks because it is so very important. You will want to stay hydrated when you are out in the heat for long periods of time, and other beverages just don't work as well. It's extra important if you are consuming alcoholic beverages. They go down pretty easily when you are on a boat and staying hydrated can make your day last longer. 7. Cooler with ice You'll need something to keep all of those drinks cold and refreshing. This also allows you to bring along some food that cannot be left out in the heat. 8. Trash Bag You'll be tired after being out all day, and cleaning up as you go saves a lot of time and energy at the end of the day. Empty beverage containers and food wrappers can pile up quickly. 9. Charged Cell Phone Just in case of an emergency, make sure that your cell phone is fully charged when you head out. Also, there are lots of local apps that can help you find out where the fun spots to stop are on the shore. It's wise to have a waterproof case for your phone, or at least a sealable bag so that it stays dry. 10. Floaties The most relaxing way to enjoy the water is sitting on a floatie and just chilling out. These come in all shapes and sizes, and will keep you afloat while you hang out with your gang.
11. First Aid Kit It's always wise to have the basics handy. Small cuts and scrapes can be taken care of right away without having to rush to shore, interrupting your fun day.
Besides those essentials, here are a few other items that are nice to have with you.
Fishing license & equipment
Waterproof camera
