It's Time for Spring Harbor Hop at the Lake!

The Annual Spring Harbor Hop is happening this weekend, on Saturday, May 5th! Boating season has already stared at the Lake but when Harbor Hop rolls around it's truly the kickoff to boating season at the Lake! If you've never participated in a Harbor Hop at the Lake of the Ozarks, it is so much fun - and you don't even have to know how to play poker to participate! If you don't own a boat so you can still join in on all the fun because BomBay Boat Rental Co. has you covered with boat rentals at the Lake of the Ozarks. Read on to learn more about the 22nd Annual Spring Harbor Hop and find out where the dealer locations will be.

How the Harbor Hop works:

You may begin at any one of the over 40 checkpoints participating this year by making the suggested donation of $20 per hand. You are more than welcome to try your luck at multiple hands if you are feeling lucky. Your first card is drawn at the spot where your hand is purchased, and you may gather your other 6 cards at whichever 6 spots you feel like "hopping" to throughout the day.

The final hand is turned in where the 7th card is drawn, but for an additional $5 you may draw a bonus 8th card! Most importantly, make sure that your hand is turned in by 7:00 p.m. so that it counts and you are eligible for the prizes! 



You Can Be a Winner

Get your boat from the best boat rental company at the Lake of the Ozarks for a full day of playing on the water... you also get a chance to win prizes too! The actual amounts will depend on how much money is collected that day.

1st Place: 10%
2nd Place: 9%
3rd Place: 8%
4th Place: 7% each
5th - 10th Place: 5% each
4 Worst Hands: 4% each
Random Drawing for 10 Hands: 2% each
(all ties will share the allocated percentage for the placing)

The Bonus

In addition to the regular prize winners, a section winner will be recognized. To be eligible to be a section winner, a player must draw all seven (7) cards within one of the four sections listed below.

Winter Events at the Lake of the Ozarks

BomBay Boat Rental Company enjoys the Lake of the Ozarks and we want to help YOU enjoy it, too! During the summer, the Lake is a hot spot for visitors and locals, but the fun doesn't stop with the change of seasons. There are plenty of fun things to do year round and we wanted to highlight a few of them here. From bird watching to plunging into the lake for a great cause, learn more about what the lake area has to offer, "off-season." When the weather warms up, we look forward to renting you the best watercraft at the Lake of the Ozarks has to offer! 


Lake of the Ozarks Eagle Days presented by Ameren

When: Saturday, January 7th from 9 AM to 5:30 Pm and Sunday, January 8th from 10 AM to 4:30 PM

Bundle up the family and join in on some bird watching fun. Eagle Days is one of the most popular winter events at the Lake of the Ozarks and you won't want to miss the opportunity to view eagles and other birds of prey. You can get up close and personal with these majestic creatures as part of the World Bird Sanctuary and Dickerson Park Zoo Presentations, or view from afar. This event has been gaining momentum since the first program was held in 1999. Last year, over 3,700 people helped make the event one of the most successful Eagle Days in years past. Don't forget your binoculars and camera, and have fun! Highlights include:

  • Activities at School of the Osage Heritage Elementary and at the Osage River Access.
  • Live eagles from the World Bird Sanctuary with naturalists on hand to answer questions at Osage National Golf Resort.
  • Natural eagle viewing and photo opportunities at Willmore Lodge or from the decks of the Celebration Cruise II Yacht. 


Polar Plunge 2017

When: Saturday, February 25th at 2 PM

Calling all brave lake lovers! The Lake of the Ozarks State Park is host to a unique challenge known as the Polar Plunge. This is a great opportunity to support the area's Special Olympics athletes. Supporters from all over gather teams, dress up, donate and plunge into the frigid Lake of the Ozarks water in an effort to raise money and awareness for the Special Olympics Missouri (SOMO). An organization that hosts a year-round program of sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. You can register to plunge or sit back and enjoy the action, either way, check it out!



Lake Ozark St. Patrick's Day Parade 

When: Saturday, March 11th at 1 PM

Join in the St. Patrick's Day celebration and be transported to another time. This old fashioned parade with floats, marching bands and candies for all, is held on the Bagnell Dam Strip - a favorite event of locals and visitors! For the Irish or Irish at heart, you can enjoy several restaurant and bar specials along the Lake's famous, "Strip." You won't want to miss this fun and culture filled parade! 

The winter months bring fun and exciting events to the Lake of the Ozarks and we hope you're able to enjoy them to the fullest! Holiday Happenings at The Lake of the Ozarks

With the unseasonably warm weather we've been experiencing at the Lake of the Ozarks, it's hard to believe that the holidays are just around the corner. The 2016 rental season for BomBay Boat Rental Company was exceptional, and we couldn't have asked for a better season, but we're ready to get into the holiday spirit. Now that you're not spending as much time on the water and have more free time, check out a few fun upcoming Lake area events and celebrations.

Nov. 17-19:  Gala of Trees

Wobbly Boots Roadhouse is the new host for this annual event the weekend before Thanksgiving.  Trees that have been decorated by local businesses and organizations will be on display and up for bid through a silent auction. While participation in the silent auction throughout the gala is free.   All of the proceeds raised from the auction benefit Candyland and the Idiot's Club to purchase toys for local children.  

Nov. 18 - Jan. 1:  Enchanted Village of Lights

The Laurie Fairgrounds is host to one of the largest drive-through holiday light parks in Mid-Missouri.  It is open nightly at 5:00 pm, and runs until 9:00 pm weekdays and until 10:00 pm on the weekends.  There is no charge to attend, but donations are welcomed.      

Nov. 24 - Jan. 1:  St Patrick's Festival of Lights

Claiming to have the oldest light park in the area, having been around since 1981, is the Shrine of St. Patrick, also known as the Mothers Shrine.  It displays 4,000 strings of lights daily from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm.  Guests will enjoy hot chocolate and hot cider Thursday - Sunday evenings from 5 pm to 8 pm and this is free and open to the public.  


Nov. 25 - Dec. 25:  Christmas Village & Ice Skating At Old Kinderhook

Every weekend from Thanksgiving until Christmas you can enjoy the holidays at Old Kinderhook. They offer s'mores around the fire pit, carolers, Santa, gingerbread house making, horse drawn carriage rides, elf storytelling, and more.  All of this, plus their incredible outdoor ice skating rink.  

Nov. 25 - Dec. 30:  Deck the Docks Holiday Light Cruise

Proceeds from this wonderful boat cruise benefit the Dogwood Animal Shelter. For $25, the Celebration's dinner cruise will pass by many beautifully decorated waterfront homes and docks.  All cruises leave at 5:30 pm.  Reservations are required. 

Nov. 26 - Dec. 31:  Osage Beach Holiday Lights

The Osage Beach City Park and various locations along Osage Beach Parkway will be lit up for the holidays.  Take a leisurely drive through the park, then venture up and down the parkway for some holiday cheer.  

Nov. 26-27:  The Nutcracker Ballet

Steps dance studio will be performing their 16th year of the Nutcracker ballet at the School of the Osage in Cummings Auditorium.  Reserved tickets are $12-$15, and general admission tickets are $10.  Performances are Saturday at 6:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm.    
   

Nov. 27:  Lake Area Community Orchestra

Talented local musicians get together to perform concerts all around the Lake area throughout the holiday season.  The first one for the season will be at the Community Christian Church in Camdenton, MO at 7:00 pm.  If you cannot make it to this performance, they will be performing five more concerts throughout December.  The full schedule is at ww.lakeareacommunityorchestra.org.   

 There are lots and lots of fun activities in the area to keep you and your family and friends entertained around Thanksgiving.  We are still renting boats at the Lake of the Ozarks by reservation.  Give us a call if you would like to cruise the Lake on one of these sunny November days.  BomBay Boat Rental Company would like to wish each and every one of you a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Reserve Your Fall Harbor Hop Boat Rentals NOW!

The 31st Annual Fall Harbor Hop is only a couple of weeks away on Saturday, October 8, 2016. You don't have to be a boat owner to take part in this incredible day on the water. We've got plenty of Lake of the Ozarks boat rentals to go around. Our tritoons, ski boats, and waverunners will take you and all of your friends to as many of the Harbor Hop stops you feel like fitting into your day. 

Those of us here at BomBay Boat Rental Co. have seen quite a few Harbor Hops over the years, and we can guarantee you that this is an event you do not want to miss. Over 40 locations to stop at, live music at many of them, great drinks, incredible food, and a chance to win prizes and bragging rights. All that, plus an entire day doing one of our favorite things - cruising the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. 

 All three of our rental locations are right next to stops: Dog Days Bar & Grill, Camden on the Lake, and Boathouse Lakeside Bar & Grill. Pick up your rental and start your Harbor Hop all in one place.   



Here's how the Harbor Hop works: Begin at any one of the stops with an optional $20 donation for each hand that you want to play. Your first card will be drawn right then and there. After that, you will "hop" to 6 more stops of your choice from the list below, drawing a new card at each. You also have the option of drawing an 8th card for an additional $5. 


PRIZES
Your hand are complete and ready to be turned in at your 7th stop. As long as you finish by 7:00 pm on the day of Harbor Hop, you're in the running for the prize money. Prizes will be pulled from the entry fees, so the more people that play, the bigger the winnings will be. Here is how they will be divided up:

Boating Events Surrounding the 2016 Lake of the Ozarks Shootout

It's nearly Lake of the Ozarks Shootout time again! This is the largest, most exhilarating unsanctioned boat race in the United States. You'll want to reserve your boat rental at the Lake of the Ozarks early so that you don't miss any of the action on Saturday and Sunday, August 27-28, 2016.  

 That's not the only time you will want to reserve a watercraft from BomBay Boat Rental Co. for a Shootout event though. There are also 2 poker runs going on before the big races!

Lil Boat and Pontoon Shootout Poker Run - Friday, 8/19/16











This is a dual starting point poker run. You can sign in and get started on both sides of the lake with a finish point in the middle. Boats and pontoons that are 32 foot and under (which is a category that both our ski boats and tritoons fall into) will be traveling from stop to stop trying to gather the best poker hand. Breakfast and registration will be taking place at 8 am at both Captain Ron's and Franky & Louie's, and the final stop will be at Topsider where an awards party will take place at 6 pm. While the poker run will be taking place on Friday, pre-registration, along with an auction, will happen on Thursday, August 25 from 4-9 pm at Performance Boat Center. You can get an early bird discount if you register online by August 21. Your entry fee comes with 1 hand of poker, breakfast for 2 at Franky & Louie's, 1 poker run DVD. Additional poker hands will be available for purchase. The stops for this one include:

The Main Event 

Thousands of people will line their boats up along the raceway to witness these incredible speed races that the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout brings to us every year. You can watch them on TV or listen to the play-by-play on the radio, but nothing compares to seeing all the action live from a boat. 

 This incredible event is not only exciting to watch, but it also raises money for many well-deserving organizations each year. Last year alone this event was able to give $175,000 to 31 different charities and lake area rescue teams. Boating Fun on the Lake of the Ozarks This 4th of July

The best way to experience the amazing lake area is from one of our Lake of the Ozarks boat rentals. 4th of July weekend is bound to be one of the busiest weekends all season long, which means there will be even more awesome activities to enjoy than usual. FIREWORKS

It just doesn't feel like the 4th of July unless there are fireworks. This year, the lake area is setting off plenty of those, and the following shows can be seen from a boat. It doesn't get any better than seeing those bright lights both in the sky and reflected in the lake.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

There is no shortage of places to stop along the 1,150 miles of shoreline at the Lake of the Ozarks. Among these, you will find plenty of waterfront bars and restaurants to enjoy when you are ready for a break from the water. Most of these also feature some of the best live entertainment in Missouri. 

 You can also enjoy numerous natural Lake of the Ozarks attractions by water. The sheer beauty of this area is absolutely breathtaking, and there are many public docks that will allow you to park and explore. Among the places that you should make a point to visit are Ha Ha Tonka State Park, Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park, and Lake of the Ozarks State Park. Pack a picnic basket, put on your hiking shoes, and take a little time to explore before getting back on the boat.

FUN ON THE WATER

Simply sitting back and enjoying your cruise around the lake is fun in itself, but that's not the only thing that you can do when you take out one of our Lake of the Ozarks boat rentals. HOLIDAY SAFETY TIPS

A busy weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks can be more exciting than usual, but it also means there are a lot more people to watch out for while you are boating. Safety is the most important thing every time you go out on the water, but on a holiday weekend, take extra precautions to keep yourself and everyone around you as safe as possible. 

  • Slow down
  • Be aware of both other boats and people in the water
  • Be prepared: life jackets, charged cell phone, fire extinguisher, fresh water to drink...
  • Make a float plan before heading out
  • Always have a designated captain
  • Review boating rules and laws before your trip

Register for the Support Our Troops Poker Run - June 23-25

Another Lake of the Ozarks annual event is coming up in June is the Support Our Troops Poker Run on Friday, June 24. This year the events surrounding the poker run will be taking place at Camden on the Lake, one of our BomBay Boat Rental Co. locations.

H.E.R.O.E.S. Care

The Support Our Troops Poker Run is in its 9th year at the Lake of the Ozarks. The charity which benefits from this fun event is H.E.R.O.E.S. Care. It's an affiliation of program partners which all work together to support military families in the communities where they live. 

This group teams up with national organizations that provide financial aid, employment opportunities, and mental health care services to military members and their families before and during deployment, as well as after they get home. The Support Our Troops Poker Run has been able to donate over $150,000 to this wonderful charity so far. If you would like to know more about them, please visit Heroescare.org.  


Schedule of Events 

The poker run isn't the only fun in store for participants this year. Three days of activities have been planned.  

Thursday, June 23 – Registration Party 
6 pm – 9 pm 
Camden on the Lake 

Friday, June 24 – Poker Run 
9 am: Drivers will attend a breakfast meeting at Camden on the Lake, followed by the poker run. 

Saturday, June 25 – Rehab Day & Pool Party 
All day 
Camden on the Lake Pool
