The best way to experience the amazing lake area is from one of our Lake of the Ozarks boat rentals. 4th of July weekend is bound to be one of the busiest weekends all season long, which means there will be even more awesome activities to enjoy than usual. BomBay Boat Rental Co. has a few of those listed here for you, as well as some tips to keep you safe over the holiday.

It just doesn't feel like the 4th of July unless there are fireworks. This year, the lake area is setting off plenty of those, and the following shows can be seen from a boat. It doesn't get any better than seeing those bright lights both in the sky and reflected in the lake.

Friday, July 1

Saturday, July 2

Bear Bottom Resort3
8 MM of the Osage Arm

There is no shortage of places to stop along the 1,150 miles of shoreline at the Lake of the Ozarks. Among these, you will find plenty of waterfront bars and restaurants to enjoy when you are ready for a break from the water. Most of these also feature some of the best live entertainment in Missouri.

You can also enjoy numerous natural Lake of the Ozarks attractions by water. The sheer beauty of this area is absolutely breathtaking, and there are many public docks that will allow you to park and explore. Among the places that you should make a point to visit are Ha Ha Tonka State Park, Bridal Cave & Thunder Mountain Park, and Lake of the Ozarks State Park. Pack a picnic basket, put on your hiking shoes, and take a little time to explore before getting back on the boat.

Simply sitting back and enjoying your cruise around the lake is fun in itself, but that's not the only thing that you can do when you take out one of our Lake of the Ozarks boat rentals. There are lots of exciting water sports to enjoy too. A relaxed day of fishing (if you are lucky enough to find a quiet cove on a holiday weekend!), skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, swimming, coving out, and more.

BomBay Boat Rental Co. offers paddleboard rentals at 2 of our locations: Village Marina and Camden on the Lake. You can also get Lake of the Ozarks jet ski rentals at those two spots, plus our Dog Days Bar & Grill rental location.

A busy weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks can be more exciting than usual, but it also means there are a lot more people to watch out for while you are boating. Safety is the most important thing every time you go out on the water, but on a holiday weekend, take extra precautions to keep yourself and everyone around you as safe as possible.

  • Slow down
  • Be aware of both other boats and people in the water
  • Be prepared: life jackets, charged cell phone, fire extinguisher, fresh water to drink...
  • Make a float plan before heading out
  • Always have a designated captain
  • Review boating rules and laws before your trip

9 Tips for a Successful Day on the Water

Summertime is all about being outside and enjoying the beautiful weather. Cooling off in the water is a great way to spend time with friends and family in the warmer months. The best boat rental company at the Lake of the Ozarks is here to help you make your day on the water memorable. We have provided some boating tips to ensure your time spent on the water is a success!

1. Take it Slow

When driving around docks or other boaters, taking it slow is the best option. Unlike vehicles, boats don’t have a break to quickly stop when needed. Taking your time when driving a boat on the water makes for a safer and more enjoyable outing.

2. Stay Hydrated

Be sure to bring plenty of water to keep everyone hydrated. The summer heat can quickly dehydrate the body. Staying on top of this situation is beneficial for all. The last thing anyone wants when trying to enjoy the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks is to get sick from a lack of water.

3. Pack Those Snacks

Do not forget to pack food to last for the duration of your voyage. Along with staying hydrated, having enough food is crucial for a great day on the water. Your group will be cranky if you do not have enough food for them!

4. Waterproof Bag

Although no one plans on getting their personal items wet, it does happen. Place phones, wallets, and other items in a waterproof bag or plastic bag at the least. Keeping these items in a safe location on the boat helps keep them dry as well.

5. Sunscreen

Remember to pack the sun block to protect from getting too burnt while out on the water all day. Being around water can multiply the sun’s rays, so you are more apt to get a sunburn.

6. Dress Appropriately

Bringing clothing that can cover your skin if you do get too much sun is a good idea. Also packing sunglasses and hats to protect your face and eyes can be helpful for enjoying your boating experience.

7. Lifejacket

Making sure to have properly fitting life jackets for everyone attending is also a good idea. Nothing is more uncomfortable than wearing a lifejacket that is either too big or, even worse, too small! A properly fitting life preserver helps everyone enjoy themselves in the water.

8. GPS

It is a good idea to either bring a GPS or know how to use the boat’s GPS system. Being on the water can be disorienting, especially if you plan on staying out after dark. The lake looks different at night when most landmarks are not visible.

9. Weather Check

Before setting out on an excursion on the boat, double check the weather to make sure nothing has changed. Having your family and friends out on a boat while it is raining will be memorable, but not the most fun situation. Being on the water during a storm can be dangerous as well. Checking the weather throughout the day is also a good idea, if your device allows. Missouri weather changes frequently, so don’t be caught off guard on the water.

Boating is one of the most popular things to do at the Lake of the Ozarks. Keep these tips in mind when packing for your day on the water. Bombay Boat Rental is here to help make your boating experience enjoyable. We offer the best rental boats at the Lake of the Ozarks for you and your family to take out for the day.  Give us a call at 1-888-259-6096 to reserve your boat today!

Owning Vs. Renting a Boat - Which One is Best for You?

The dream of many people that frequent the lake area is to own a boat of their very own. Unfortunately, the "joy" of owning a boat involves a lot of work and a lot of expense. Renting a boat at the Lake of the Ozarks is a much better way to enjoy this fantastic pastime without all of the hassle.

A popular saying that we have heard at BomBay Boat Rental Co. is "The 2 happiest days in a boat owner's life are the day he/she buys the boat and the day the boat is sold!" Unless you are willing to dedicate a lot of your time and money to this hobby, renting may be a better solution. Here are a few questions to ask yourself on the subject of renting vs. buying.

How often will you use the boat?

One big regret of boat owners is the fact that they don't get a chance to get out on the water enough. If you know for a fact that you will be boating every single week, then this may not be a worry for you. On the other hand, if you only have a few days here and there that you can find the time to enjoy a day on the lake, it will probably be a lot cheaper to rent a boat when you decide to go out.

Also, if you don't have a lake near your home and must travel to go boating, renting will allow you to boat wherever you go without having to bring the watercraft along with you.

Which kind should you buy?

Different kinds of boats are good for various types of usage and passengers. Buying means you have to pick out one. Renting means that you can use a different boat every time that you go out, depending on what you have in mind for that trip.

BomBay Boat Rental Co. offers ski boats, tritoons, and jet skis for rent, and at some of our locations, you can even rent paddleboards.

  • Cobalt 220 Ski Boat: Room for a dozen passengers, plus their gear.
  • Sylvan Mirage 8524 Cruise LZ Tritoon: Plenty of room to stretch out and relax with its four-sided wrap around seating.
  • SeaDoo GTI 130 SE: Easy to ride and fuel efficient PWC.
  • SeaDoo RXP 300: The top-of-the-line racing PWC.

How much are you willing to spend?

As with any large purchase, if you have been considering buying a boat, you have probably figured out exactly how much you can afford to spend on it. The problem is that most people only think about the purchase price. Boats aren't just a monthly payment. They cost a lot of money every time that you take them out. Here are a few of the expenses you are in store for beyond the asking price.

  • Title, registration, & insurance: These are already taken care of when you rent a boat.
  • Maintenance: A lot can go wrong with a boat when it is out on the water, and fixing it usually doesn't come cheap. BomBay Boat Rental Co. offers the newest and best maintained fleet on the water. You will always get a dependable boat rental from us, and if something does go wrong, we'll take care of it.
  • Storage: If you don't have a place at your home that you can keep your boat, you will need to rent a dock slip rented to keep it in. Don't forget about storage in the off-season too. It will need to be winterized and pulled out of the water in the winter. Renting a boat means that you simply drop it off when you are done and we'll take care of the storage details.

You can join strictly for waverunner rentals, or get a boat rental membership and have access to every type of boat we rent plus our jet ski rentals. Payments are only made during the 6 months that the season includes.

If you have the time and the money set aside, then owning a boat of your own may be the best choice for you. If you prefer to let us worry about all of the boring details while you simply go out, have a great time, then go home, then our Lake of the Ozarks boat rentals are the best option. Our philosophy is that you should be out on the water every day, but especially on this one! The race is exciting to watch from anywhere, but the very best viewing experience is from on the lake, right beside the course, which stretches from the 0 MM to the 3 MM.

10:40 am - Opening ceremony at Beavers at the Dam
11:00 am - 5:00 pm - Races run until all heats are finished
7:00 pm - Awards ceremony

The races may be over, but the fun isn't. There are two activities planned for today, one involving your feet, but the other is perfect for our Lake of the Ozarks boat rentals

7:00 am - Lake Race 5K Run: At 9:00 am, runners will start at Beavers at the Dam, travel below the Dam on Valley Road to JJ Twig's, then head up the Strip, back to Beavers.

10:00 am - Props & Hoses Poker Run: $20 raffle tickets will be available at each participating location for a 50/50 drawing, which will take place at Redhead Yacht Club at 4:00 pm. 50% of the money will go to the winner, and the other half will benefit local firefighters. Fun Run locations include:

  • Beavers at the Dam
  • Frankie and Louie's
  • Larry's on the Lake
  • Redhead Lakeside Grill
  • Backwater Jack's
  • Topsider
  • Dog Days

Those radio stations are great for hearing the play-by-plays and inside scoop while you watch from your boat rental. A live stream will also be available. You can find the link at www.LakeRace.com
