1. Sunscreen
You will be directly in the sun while you are on the boat, and probably for an extended period of time. Especially if you will be stopping in a cove to swim. You should reapply sunscreen every couple of hours and after swimming to maintain coverage. Your day on the lake may not be a good memory if you are burned for days afterward.
2. Sunglasses
The glare off of the water can be blinding. The safest sunglasses for your eyes should protect you from both UVA and UVB light.
3. Hats
It's pretty hard to put suntan lotion on your head if you have hair, and ears are often forgotten about when sunscreen is applied. Having a hat handy is wonderful when you aren't ready to get off of the water but your face and head have had enough heat.
4. Towels
It's best to bring along one for each person plus a few extras. There is a good chance that a few will get too soaked to dry anything, and you may want to use some to clean up spills and splashes rather than just to dry off.
5. Drinks & Snacks
If you bring along a few non-perishable snacks and something to drink, you can spend more time on the water without having to look for a place to stop and eat. The sun will make you thirstier than normal, and swimming works up quite an appetite. Pack a few koozies to keep the beverage that you are drinking cold longer. Also, a roll of paper towels is great to have around just in case.
6. Water
This gets it's own number separate from snacks and drinks because it is so very important. You will want to stay hydrated when you are out in the heat for long periods of time, and other beverages just don't work as well. It's extra important if you are consuming alcoholic beverages. They go down pretty easily when you are on a boat and staying hydrated can make your day last longer.
7. Cooler with ice
You'll need something to keep all of those drinks cold and refreshing. This also allows you to bring along some food that cannot be left out in the heat.
8. Trash Bag
You'll be tired after being out all day, and cleaning up as you go saves a lot of time and energy at the end of the day. Empty beverage containers and food wrappers can pile up quickly.
9. Charged Cell Phone
Just in case of an emergency, make sure that your cell phone is fully charged when you head out. Also, there are lots of local apps that can help you find out where the fun spots to stop are on the shore. It's wise to have a waterproof case for your phone, or at least a sealable bag so that it stays dry.
10. Floaties
The most relaxing way to enjoy the water is sitting on a floatie and just chilling out. These come in all shapes and sizes, and will keep you afloat while you hang out with your gang.
11. First Aid Kit
It's always wise to have the basics handy. Small cuts and scrapes can be taken care of right away without having to rush to shore, interrupting your fun day.
