Reserve Your Watercraft for the Fall Harbor Hop!

It's almost time for the Fall Harbor Hop at the Lake of the Ozarks! This year, the Fall Harbor Hop will take place on October 12th all across the lake! If you've never participated in one of the Harbor Hops put on by the CVB, you still have time to join in on the fun. This is one of the best days out on the water and if you don't own a boat, BomBay Boat Rental Co. has you covered. Read on to get all the details for the Fall Harbor Hop from your favorite boat rental company at the Lake of the Ozarks!

How  It Works

Participating in the Harbor Hop is easy, and you barely even have to know how to play poker to participate! All you need to participate in this lake-wide event is have a boat, a list of the checkpoints, and ready to have a fun day on the water!

To obtain a hand, start at any of the checkpoints and pay an optional $20 to sign up. Any player can play as many hands as they would like. Stop at 6 more checkpoints, picking up another card for your poker hand at each one. Turn in your hand where you draw your seventh card. If you aren't particularly happy with the hand that you have been dealt, you will have the opportunity to buy an eighth card for $5 to increase your winning chance. Each checkpoint has its own opening time, but all cards must be turned in by 7 pm to qualify.

Tubing Safety Tips!

Fall is almost here but that doesn't mean that boating season is over just yet! The weather is still warm and fall is a perfect time of year for boating. Since there are far fewer boats out on the water, fall is an excellent time of year to go tubing! Tubing is a lot of fun for all ages.

The best way to ensure everyone has fun while they are out having fun on the water is to always keep safety top of mind. That's why today, our boat rental company at the Lake of the Ozarks has a few safety tips to consider when tubing.

ALWAYS wear a life jacket.

This is the number one rule for safety when you are on any body of water. The Lake of the Ozarks has a lot of boating traffic on it in the summer. There is always a good chance of getting bounced off of the tube and separated from the boat. The PDF will keep you safely above water until you can be picked up.

Know the equipment.

Double and triple-check that the equipment you are using is in good shape. BomBay Boat Rental Company makes sure our watercraft are always in tip-top shape, but the tube is your responsibility. Know the manufacturer's recommendations for the tube you are using regarding capacity and safe speeds. Make sure that the tow line is secure before you take off. Replace it if it appears worn or frayed.

Know the rules.

Get familiar with the water safety regulations for the area that you are in. You can find out about all of Missouri's boating laws at www.boat-ed.com.

Know each rider's skill level.

Be fully aware of the expertise of each person riding the tube. It's fun to go fast, make sharp turns, and make the experience into a true thrill ride, but if the person riding is too young or inexperienced to handle it, accidents will happen.

Have a designated spotter.

At least one designated person should keep watch over the people on the tube at all times to alert the driver of any problems. The captain needs to keep their eyes and minds on driving the boat.

Watch your surroundings.

Never take off until you are positive that the rider is ready. They should have a firm grip on the line, be in a position to ride, and the line should be safely positioned. Keep a close eye on everyone else in the water around your area, both other boats and people in the water. Slow the boat when you cross a wake. Tubes hitting and bouncing off of wakes at high speeds have been known to cause back injuries.

That's where BomBay Boat Rental comes in - enjoy health and happiness that comes with boating without the hassle of boat ownership. Not sure what all the boating hype is about? Read on to learn why boating can improve your health and happiness!

#1 - It's a great way to relieve stress.

Many studies have been done that show simply being near water is a natural way to lower your anxiety. In a survey of over 1,000 households, boating was listed in the top 3 of all stress-relieving activities. If you are in need a calming activity in your life, boating is a great hobby to take up.

#2 - It's healthy for you.

Being outdoors is great for your overall health. The fresh air is invigorating and is proven to increase a person's concentration skills and increase creativity. Being on a boat all day also provides your body with lots of healthy Vitamin D from the sun. Don't forget the sunscreen!

#3 - It can be great exercise.

While the boating itself isn't really exercised, all of the activities that are available to you while on a boat are great ways to get a workout. Swimming, skiing, tubing, and wakeboarding are all incredible forms of exercise.

#4 - It gives you time to unplug.

Our everyday lives are so full of technology in this day and age, an afternoon out on the lake is an awesome opportunity to "unplug" and simply slow down and enjoy the real world.

#5 - It's a perfect bonding opportunity.

A day on the water with your family and friends allows for a little quality time together. No distractions, and hours to spend catching up with each other.

#6 - It improves your overall quality of life.

Boating is the type of entertainment that is excellent for your mind, body, and spirit. This is a hobby that not only adds enjoyment to your own life, but everyone that you bring along to share it with you too.

7 Reasons to Go Boating this Fall!

Labor Day is behind us which means that the arrival of fall is almost here! After the busy holiday weekend is over, many people think that the boating season is over. Even though there will be significantly fewer people out on the water, fall is one of the best times to rent a boat at the Lake of the Ozarks! Check out 7 reasons you should rent a boat or jet ski at the Lake of the Ozarks this fall!

#1 There's Less Traffic

Many of the people that vacation here in the Summer have kids in school or are busy with work this time of year. There are still plenty of locals and visitors to the area around, but much less than smack dab in the middle of tourist season. This gives you plenty of room out on the water to relax and not worry about too many other boats getting in your way.

#2 It's Peaceful

Another benefit of fewer boats on the water is that there is a lot less noise. The sound of multiple boat engines on the Lake can sometimes drown out all of those sweet sounds of nature. Get out there this time of year and you will truly experience the beauty of the Lake of the Ozarks without all of the noisy distractions.

#3 It's Gorgeous

We are lucky enough to live in a part of Mid-Missouri that is beautiful year-round. Here at the Lake of the Ozarks, the leaves will soon change to a rainbow of Fall colors and the entire area will look like it came straight out of a painting. Seeing this from the water elevates this experience to another level.

#4 You'll Have a Smoother Ride

With less traffic on the Lake, you will get a much smoother riding experience. Fewer boats mean fewer waves, which means a much more calm and relaxing day for you.

#5 The Fish are Biting

Yes, the fish were biting all Summer too, but you had to find a quiet spot where they weren't all scared away. This time of year it's a lot easier to find quiet spots with hungry fish wherever you go.

#6 You Can Always Find a Parking Spot

Many of the waterfront bars and restaurants at the Lake of the Ozarks stay open as long as the weather allows, and we've got a lot of beautiful days ahead of us before it's too nasty to get to these places. You will have no trouble finding an open slip to dock your boat rental and enjoy your favorite waterfront hot spot.

#7 Shorter Wait for Food and Drinks

Once you make your way up from the dock, it is very likely that you will be seated right away, and with fewer customers, the cooks and bartenders will be able to whip up your favorites much quicker than they were able to in mid-July.
