Spring Fishing Tournaments at the Lake of the Ozarks

Spring at the Lake of the Ozarks is a great time for fishing. If you are competitive, there are plenty of fishing tournaments to keep you busy, both for the pros and the beginners.  Fishermen have 2 days to compete in this tournament at Alhonna Resort in Lake Ozark. Breakfast is included each morning with the entry fee, and a complimentary boat slip is included with all Alhonna Resort room rentals. Fishing hours on Saturday are 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, and Sunday 7:00 am - 2:00 pm.    


Bass Pro Shops Crappie Masters Tournament

April 16, 2016


 This 1-day tournament is the first leg of the Missouri State Championship. Registration is at Captain Ron's in Sunrise Beach April 15 at 5:00 pm with a seminar at 6:30 pm. Fishing hours on Saturday are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. They will also host a Kids' Fishing Rodeo on Saturday from 9:00 am - 10:30 am, with registration for that beginning at 8:00 am.

Spring Big Bass Bash

April 23-24, 2016

Beginning fisherman get a chance at big prize money in this tournament. It is strictly open to amateurs. Over $175,000 in prizes will be awarded, with the big winner taking home $60,000. Fishing hours are from 6:30 am - 3:00 pm each day, and boats will launch out of Pa He Tsi Public Beach #2 at the Lake of the Ozarks State park.

St. Patrick's Day Parades at the Lake of the Ozarks

Saturday, March 12, 2016 the Lake of the Ozarks will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day a little early. Every year, the lake area uses this holiday to unofficially kick-off spring. Each weekend more and more waterfront bars and restaurants will be opening up this month, and the best boat rental company at the Lake of the Ozarks won't be far behind them!

 Whether you prefer to celebrate by land or by water, the lake has a parade for you. These two annual St. Patrick's Day Parades are highly anticipated by residents and tourists alike.


32nd Annual Lake Ozark St. Patrick's Day Parade

At 1:00 pm, this parade will begin at the Tomahawk Motel on Bagnell Dam Boulevard and make its way to Bagnell Dam. Traffic will be shut down from 12:45 - 3:00 pm. You will want to get your place on the roadside early because every year the crowds begin claiming their spots well before noon. 

 The parade will feature decorated floats, candy, beads, and more. Many of the local restaurants will be offering drink specials and corned beef and cabbage throughout the day. This year's Grand Marshalls are the Lake Area Emergency Services, including all area police, fire, ambulance, and other EMS organizations. 


25th Annual St. Patrick's Water Parade

Local boaters decorate their boats with festive greens, rainbows, and pots o' gold to cruise the gorgeous Lake of the Ozarks. This parade both begins and ends at Captain Ron's at the 34.5 MM in Sunrise Beach. A breakfast buffet is available at 8 am, and the boats will take off at 10 am. 

 The Tropic Island and Celebration Cruise boats will also be taking passengers out on the water to enjoy the parade. Tickets are available for these through the Lake West Chamber of Commerce.
