Get Outside at The Lake of the Ozarks!

Winter is here and it's easy to let the cold temperatures keep us inside. However, it's still important that we get outside! At BomBay Boat Rental Company, our team loves the outdoors and we love any excuse to get out and enjoy the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. Here are a few great reasons to get out and enjoy the sun during the chilly winter months!

Health and Wellness

Your body needs sunlight to give you a boost of Vitamin D. Vitamin D is essential to developing healthy bones and fighting a variety of diseases and illnesses. It has also been shown to give the immune system a healthy boost. You could be at risk if you are not taking in the FDA recommended amount of 2,000 IU of Vitamin D a day. The sun provides plenty of Vitamin D when exposed to your skin, making spending time outdoors all year round is important.

You could: Bundle up and hit the trail.Take a nature walk at one of the state park trails in and around the Lake of the Ozarks. The trails at Ha Ha Tonka feature 16 miles of spectacular scenery and the Lake of the Ozarks State Park offers hikers and strollers 16.5 miles of walkways. Not only will the invigorating walk be great for your muscles, it will allow your skin to soak up that much needed Vitamin D.

Fight Cabin Fever

During the summer months, most of us spend ample time enjoying the outdoors. When we find ourselves cooped up during winter, our chances of adverse mood changes and weight can increase. Exercise and sunlight together can get your blood flowing, providing organs with much needed nutrients to give you energy. This can help combat obesity and depression that may come from spending too much time indoors.

You could: Organize some winter activities with your friends and family. Try ice skating at our local outdoor ice skating rink, taking your bike out for a winter ride or invite friends to participate in a soccer scrimmage. Bird watching is a fun and relaxing way to spend some time enjoying the outdoors. At the Lake of the Ozarks, a variety of birds can be seen during the winter. Specifically, bald eagles generally arrive in October and nest until mid to late March. From cave exploring to hiking and biking, there are great ways to get out and battle the bulge while you have fun at the lake!

Just because the temperatures are a little less comfortable than the summer days, it doesn't mean you need to be stuck inside all winter. BomBay Boat Rental Company wants you to get outside and enjoy the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks throughout the seasons. Our docks re-open March 1st, 2017 and we couldn't be more excited to start renting the best watercraft at the Lake of the Ozarks
