Sunscreen
Even on an overcast day, those UV rays will make their way to you. Keep your skin safe by applying sunscreen before you head out, and reapply it every couple of hours and after swimming. Just in case you miss a spot, you might want to pack some aloe vera gel too.Drinking Water
It is extremely important to stay hydrated during a long, hot day out on the lake, especially if you will be drinking any alcoholic beverages. Your day will last a lot longer and end much easier if you drink plenty of water throughout. While a cooler full of ice won't fit inside your beach bag, it's a good idea to bring one on board to hold your water. Don't forget the koozies too.Snacks
All of that activity on the water will make you hungrier than usual. You'll need plenty of energy to keep having fun! Having a few non-perishable snacks in your beach bag will allow you to put off making a stop to eat lunch or dinner. While you're at it, throw a roll of paper towels in there, just in case you get a little messy.Dry Towels
Each person will need at least one towel to dry off with. Make sure you have extras on hand to lay out on and for backup in case one falls in the lake. Plastic bags come in handy to transport the really wet towels home.Sunglasses/ Hats
Your eyes will need protection from the glare of the sun, which is especially blinding when it reflects off of the water. Hats also help to keep the sun out of your eyes, and work well stop the top of your head and ears from getting burnt.Charged Cell Phone
In case of an emergency, or if you happen to lose your way, make sure you have a fully charged cell phone to call for help. They are also great for snapping a few pictures to record the awesome fun you are having! You may want to keep your phone, along with any chargers or other items that don't work well wet, inside a waterproof bag.First Aid Kit
Another emergency item, which you hope won't need to be used, is a first aid kit. It's always better to be safe than sorry. When you are cruising the lake, you may need to drive a while to find a place to stop if someone gets hurt, so it's good to have a few safety items on the boat with you.Trash Bag
Always handy for empty water bottles, cans, and snack wrappers. Make sure everyone uses them during the trip and cleaning up at the end of the day will go much faster and be a lot easier.GPS or Map
There are quite a few twists and turns to this wonderful lake of ours. If you are not familiar with it, bring along a GPS device or plot your route on a map before you head out. That way, if you get turned around at some point, you will have something to help you find your back.If you have these items in your beach bag, you should be able to spend less time stopping for supplies throughout the day and more time enjoying boating on the Lake of the Ozarks.
